Dynamic Research, Inc. (DRI) was formed in 1979 by Dr. David H. Weir.  We have grown over the years to our current size of over 40 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel, many of whom hold advanced degrees. DRI provides technical services to the ground vehicle industry.

Its subsidiary, DRI Advanced Test Systems (ATS), provides certain specialized products used in vehicle testing.

Resources/Tools

The analytical capabilities of DRI are supported by proprietary as well as commercial computer software for analysis, simulation, and data reduction. These programs are run on in-house computer systems.

Offices & Facilities

The offices and laboratories of DRI are located in Torrance, California, about 10 miles southeast of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Click here for a list of nearby accommodations.

Our facilities comprise about 20,000 square feet of office and shop space. The shops and test laboratories are used for instrumentation and test support, including fabrication, calibration, diagnosis and support of electronic and hardware devices and systems, and storage. A range of support vehicles is available, including a 20 ft. shop equipped truck, a 3/4 ton 4WD pickup, a 17 ft tilt bed trailer for vehicle transport, and other support vehicles.

DRI’s Testing Facility: DRI-Minter

DRI has a proprietary vehicle dynamics area (VDA) test facility, located near Bakersfield California.  Click here for a list of nearby accommodations.

This secure paved area is suitable for vehicle handling, braking and ride tests, pass-by noise measurements, and studies of driver behavior. In particular, it can accommodate NHTSA style “Fishhook” maneuvers and other safety-related NHTSA tests. A 1300 foot long, 30 foot wide run up lane leads onto the main maneuvering area, which is 300 feet wide and 800 feet long including the throat. Shop and office space are provided adjacent to the VDA.
