DRI’s highly experienced engineers and technicians can develop and execute a testing program to assess vehicle ride quality, handling, lateral performance and braking at our specialized vehicle dynamics area, including extensive support to assist you in achieving quality development outcomes. We carry out a comprehensive array of standard automotive certification and performance tests, alongside developing specific performance tests and criteria to address your unique requirements.
Our Vehicle Dynamics Area (VDA) features a 400m, 9m wide run-up lane that leads onto the main maneuvering area, which is 90m wide and 240m long including the throat.
The area is suitable for a wide variety of dynamic vehicle tests, including handling, braking, NCAP fishhook rollover, FMVSS 126 electronic stability control testing and trailer towing. The area is also suitable for pass-by noise measurements and studies of driver behavior. The VDA is supported with shop facilities including vehicle lifts, tire changing and wheel alignment equipment.
Our team is highly experienced at conducting stability tests including US NCAP fishhook rollover stability tests and the FMVSS 126 electronic stability control test. Precision and repeatability are key with these types of tests which is why we use AB Dynamics driving robots.
We also conduct a range of trailer towing tests including sway damping and combination vehicle understeer tests based on SAE J2807, SAE J2664 and SAE J266.
In addition, we can conduct custom dynamics tests including braking in a turn, J-turns, throttle in a turn, slalom and ISO double lane change.
After a specific test or looking for help in solving a dynamic performance problem? Reach out and we’ll do our best to develop a custom testing solution.
